CIFAL stands for
Centre International de Formation des Acteurs Locaux (in French)
Centro Internacional de Formación para Actores Locales (in Spanish)
The global network of International Training Centres for Local Actors – CIFAL Network – is composed of 9 centres covering Africa, Asia, North and South America and Europe.
At the core of CIFAL’s mission is the concept of local action: initiatives and ideas inspired by local needs and implemented by local “actors” from government, the private sector and civil society, achieved with the help of CIFAL’s training methods.
CIFAL’s workshops, seminars and activities are the primary means of implementing the United Nations’ Local Development Programme (LDP), the UN’s commitment to advancing and realizing a sustainable development agenda worldwide.
